Over the past 7 years the program has gained popularity and the number of applicants has been on the rise. This year the number of most outstanding (grades in access of 90%) and most deserving (family income less than $75,000) students is overwhelming.

 

We have stretched our limited resources to the maximum and yet we will be able to award scholarships to less than one-half of the most deserving and needy applicants.

 

However, it is heartening to note that every year more and more donors are coming forward to help us in this humble effort. We started the program from our backyard 5 years ago with just 5 scholarships. Last year the number increased to 11 and this year Masha ‘Allah we are proud to announce that we will be giving away 12 scholarships to the youth of our community. And for that we thank our donors from the bottom of our heart.    

 

The office of the Baabul Ilm Education Society takes extra measures to ensure complete transparency and impartiality in the selection process. Given the limited number of scholarships and huge number of applications the committee has to go through a very difficult task of selecting the best and yet most deserving candidates out of the numerous applications received. We believe that the committee has done an excellent job. 

 

Again, I will emphasize that Baabul Ilm Education Society does not discriminate on the basis of cast, clan, sect, and ethnic or geographical background of the applicants. This rare trait is evident in the diversity of the award winner both in previous years as well as this year.   

   

We are so sorry that we were not able to award scholarships to each qualifying candidate but we hope that Insha’Allah in the coming years we will be able to accommodate most of the qualifying applicants.
