Conference on Bibi Fatima Zehara (SA)

Baabul Ilm Education Society organized a unique multicultural seminar on the occasion of the birthday of Bibi Fatima (SA) on May 20, 2011 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Surrey campus.

This was a very well attended event in which more than 125 people from various walks of life and religious background participated with religious zeal and enthusiasm. The distinguished speakers from the across the religious and sectarian divide presented extremely well prepared and well researched speeches that enlightened the hearts and minds of the audience.

The keynote address was given by the visiting scholar from Najaf, Iraq Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Masoomian. Respected Pastor of the Peace Mannonite Chruch, Father Tim Kuepfer presented his talk on “Why Christians Respect Bibi Fatima”. Father Tim’s speech was very well received by the packed house. He explained that Christians respect Bibi Fatima not only because she is a daughter of the Holu Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) but because of Bibi Fatima’s own character and stature as a well versed, honest, and candid human being.

The renowned scholar and Imam of the Fiji Mosque Maulana A. L. Naumani delivered an excellent speech on the life of Bibi Fatima (SA) and received an instant appreciation from the audience. Prof. S. M. Suleman Pannah of UBC presented his talk on Bibi Fatima (SA) in the eye of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). He discussed the relationship between the Prophet and his daughter as two human beings and how much the two of them loved and respected each other.

Young scholar and a resident Alim of Az Zahraa Islamic Centre Sheikh Murtaza Bachoo expressed his views on Bibi Fatima (SA)’s role as a teacher. He delivered a well research talk. Two female speakers Zehra Syani and Tahira Rashid presented their talks on Bibi Fatima as mother and a wife respectively. Both the presentations were crisp, to the point, and very well prepared. Everyone present in the auditorium (both men and women) applauded their presentation. Sheikh Esmail ElKhaliq thanked the audience and the speakers in his note of thank at the end of the presentations. He suggested that Baabul Ilm Education Society should organize more such events in the future. He said that such gatherings will help bring communities together and create better understanding of each other’s beliefs and faith.

In the question and answer session number of people from the audience asked interesting questions which were answered by the distinguished speakers. The program ended with a cake cutting ceremony. The cake was cut by two little girls, Khadija Akbar and Fizza Raza.
